Thank you to our September Panelists!
Thank you to our wonderful host and sustaining sponsor, Genentech, for the location and dinner. Thank you also to our moderator, David Feinstein, and our panelists, Karen Murphy of Flex, Carla Cravalho of Cisco and Michael Schwartzberg of NETGEAR for the excellent discussion on adapting to our "new normal" with the trade war.

WIT-NC's Membership Director, Deep SenGupta, Represents WIT-NC at September's CompTIA event!
Deep, whose day job is owner of DSG Global, LLC, attended CompTIA's 12th Annual Global Trade Compliance Best Practices Conference in San Diego. CompTIA is a sponsor of WIT-NC and they invited us to have a table at the event which draws over 100 trade compliance professionals from around the country, many of whom are from Northern California. A gift card drawing was performed by Ken Montgomery (Vice President of CompTIA), Beth Pride (BPE Global and former WIT-NC Chair) and Andrea Popa (NetApp, a WIT-NC sustaining sponsor) and the lucky winner was WIT-NC member Evelyn Bernal!

Now Accepting Nominations for New Board Members!
We have several board positions open and we are always looking for new ideas and perspectives. Please contact Vicki Wilkerson or Jessica Latham if you are interested in a board position for 2019

Volunteer with WIT-NC!
Khang Nguyen, a former volunteer with WIT-NC, and now a Global Trade Compliance Specialist at Global Foundries, provided the following testimonial: "Volunteering with Women in International Trade Northern California (WIT-NC) gave me a life-changing opportunity. Not only was the experience both unique and encouraging but I also was able to build my professional network while being in school. I learned a lot about trade policies and received much invaluable advice. The essential benefit came from interacting with the Board of Directors and other members, which helped me to secure a job position after an internship. Thank you WIT-NC for making it happen." We would love to have you volunteer with us! Please contact Sumika Kawamura or Ellen Palmer for more information!

Annual Holiday Celebration!
This year's holiday event will feature John McPeak of BioMarin and we will be raising money for charity! We will also be featuring a "trade compliance" Jeopardy game - stay tuned for more details! In addition, we'll have our annual Family Giving Tree. Please pick a tag at November's meeting to bring a wished for item to our December event.
